front end help

[7.3_4x4]

ok heres the situation, 2000 f250 7.3 4x4, front gears decided to explode in differential, now theres a big crack on top of the diff cover and a hole in the front of it, what all should i need to repair this i dont know much about differentials but am very mechanically inclined so any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Best thing replace the whole axle to include the casing.

Can you repair the holes and cracks. Sure you can, can you replace the gears yep, can you replace the carrier yes. But by the time you are done doing all this. You could have gone to a junkyard and bought a whole axle and put it under the truck.


FYI there is one here out of a 99 F-250 for sale asking price is 350. It is located in Ann arbor Mi.
