Need some ideals

i have a 2004 f250 auto bone stock in january we were in barstow 4 wheeling in the desert an on the second day my truck got stuck in 4 low a tranny guy from hesperia messed with it by putting it in reverse and drive and rocking it back and fourth and got it unstuck. i never looked at it again and today i was wiping the dash and turned the knob to 4 low by accident started the truck put it in drive and now it wont come out again i have not looked underneath yet but was trying to get some ideals about what to look for

Put the truck in neutral and then put it back in 2wd...
