is the torq converter on the tranny all the way, do you have the fly wheel holes lined up with the studs coming off the torqconverter. You may need to use the bell housing bolts and pull the two together I have done that a couple times. WHAT EVER YOU DO IF YOU DO THIS DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT USE AIR TOOLS. You can use a ratchet and socket, hand tighten the bolts first then use the hand ratchet and socket and slowly walk the tranny and engine together until they marry up.

yeah my flexplate bolts are all in and the posts on the engine are in there i have i just about there. i dont know, hey the flywheel is pretty hard to turn with a pry bar, before on my old engine is wasnt that hard..... is it cuz my new engine has better compression? or is there something that could be wrong inbetween my tranny and engine... i know these are difficult questions just wondering if anyone had changed that before and had the same problem.

Your flywheel maybe hitting the bell housing which will cause that. Are you sure you got that tc on the tranny all the way. Did you loosen up the tranny at all when you removed the engine, I suggest putting a jack uner the tranny and lossening the tranny mounting bolts and see if you can not adjust it into place. When you do trun the engine over by hand do you hear the fly wheel hitting anything. Like the bell housing.

If your not hearing the fly wheel hitting anything like the bell housing I would start putting in the tranny bell housing bolts walk in and pull the tranny up slowly to the engine. Use a ratchet and socket and do this by hand. When I replaced my tranny myself I had to do this.

Did you make sure your torque conv is fully engaged into the tranny? Maybe that is keeping the bellhousing from fully mating up the the motor? Hope you get it figured out.

Make sure the torque converter is all the way in. You houldnt be able to get your fingers between the torque converter and the bellhousing at the top.

I saw that just wanted to STRESS that point, so he didn't damage the pump on the tranny by tightening the bolts all the way
