do some research and find the peak torque rpm and launch a little lower than that I guess. You really ought to step up to 4.10's if you could.

hey gear

The best way i've found to get a good launch is by practicing. Somewhere there's a sweet spot. It takes a little time to really learn all the ins and outs of manuals I think cuz they're all different in each car. I had my old mitsu truck down easy, same for my buddy in his mustang. But one day we drove each other rides for fun and we were fish out of water killing the motors right and left. So just keep playin with it...you'll find it! And on yeah, a gear change would be good. But i'm still running my stock 3.73's on 35's and I still get them loose and I have an automatic. Often they'll break once the turbo spools up and gives me that nice throwback into the seat.

Well i been trying to get the hang of it i allmost got it . I was thinking about 4.10's and i think i would lose time because i will have to shift more sooner and faster i allready do this now with 3.73. I just hate to keep lunching my truck on time after another it allready gets one hell of a beating.

Understandable on the beating......but you do have a torqshift and that's going to outlast two or three clutches! And if you got 4.10's it's not going to make that huge of a difference. I went from 3.73's to 4.56's in my old chevy z71 and I didn't think it made as big a difference as I expected it to....

well the clutch i got now is on its last legs i think with only 30k on it LOL it barley handles the power i have it slips alot so that is taking its toll on it. But when it goes am going to buy a high performance one that can handle the power. Torqshifts are allright but i dont think they can handle alot of power very good i really dont know i never owned one. But i did own a E40D atuo tranny in my 96 and that wasnt a very good atuo. So thats why i went with the 6spd. Once i get a good clutch in there i will be good to go.

From my experieance with my '84 SVO, the only way to launch turbo-dependent vehicle on street tires is to slip the clutch.

There is no way to avoid it, your engine is spining like mad and your tires are not. if you dump the clutch, and it grabs then the speed of the engine and the tires will be relative to your gears. i.e. your engine will bog or your tires will spin. this is why you have to slip the clutch thus keeping the reves up and not spinning the tires. may not be what you want to hear but that's the way it is. if you wanted to drag race you should have got an auto.
