Kind dissapointed but expected it

Well today I towed my buddy to the drag strip with my truck and trailer. It was a mopar day and test and tune he was running in the mopar class.. I got bored about 2 hrs into it and decided to run the superduty, I unhooked the trailer and bought in.. well it was what I expected it would be I cant get it off the line... just not enough traction.. first run I let off the clutch @ 2000 in 2nd spun through the whole gear and chirped into third.. then second run I tried leaving a 1500 and it fell on its face then, was not enough rpm still sucked.....third pass and last pass of the day I tried about 1700 rpm smoked the sh!t out of the tire again leaving in second...


Moral of the story 2wd with a stick and no lsd = no traction keep it as a tow rig... a lsd would have helped a ton.. but 4wd would have helped 10 tons...


btw ran a whopping 17.6 @ 83mph ..... kinda embarrassing but hey I wanted to try... I can say I found out I definitely hook up better on the street then the track too... I figured it wouldn't be hooking up.. my buddy said it smoked the tires the whole way through second then he even herd the 3rd gear chirp... I lost a tad bit of my new bfgs .. time to rotate them now

I have the same problems, its quite frustrating, I have a lsd, but 4wd would be awsome to get some huge boost off the line.

I had a lsd in my old 97. The a$$ end would bounce like mad when it would hook up.

Sorry to hear that bud! Its hard enough to do it with LSD, but I can't imagine trying to hook it up with 1 tire!

Maybe next time if ya do it you can just launch a little slower then smoke at the end!

next time I'll have my 79 at the track and the superduty will stay hooked to the trailer.. it will do what it does best, tow the big trailer like it isnt even there..lol

dont get me wrong the truck makes a sh!t load of power but the torque of the motor and 1 wheel dont work so well.. my 60 foot was a 3.18 I'm more accustomed to 1.59 60 foot times

it ran 11.30@118mph for 2 years till I blew up the mild 460, now it has a 460 stroked to a 514 but havent took it to the drags yet..I just got it finished in May and havent got all the bug out of it till just recently..I still need a oil cooler before I drag it here is a lot of info about this truck here
