drag racing with manual hubs?
hey whats up guys, got a quick question about drag racing. i have manual hubs and the 4x4 shifter is on the floor. how would you go about doing 4x4 launches with that setup as opposed to the auto locking hubs and the switch. can you shift the lever out of 4x4 when your rolling? will the locked hubs slow the truck down? kinda a newb question i guess but school me haha

I just ran mine for the 1st time last week. I was a little hesitant at first, but eventually just locked the hubs and went 4 it. You're not gonna have time to disengage the 4x4, plus to do it you would have have to let off the pedal for a second which defeats the whole purpose of racing it to begiun w/. Just lock 'em and let 'er fly. I hit 90+ in 4x4 w/o any probs.

I have the same setup myself, just lock the hubs, put her in 4 High, hold the brake like you're trying to push it through the floorboard, build as much boost as possible and launch the hell out of it! Have fun. Oh and don't forget to turn the overdrive off.

So how are you guys heating up the tires is 4x4? I thought that i saw a truck with slicks all the way around and it got me thinking about this...

Unless you're making well north of 500 hp, you're not going to have to worry about heating the tires on a 4x4.

Thanks, does anyone launch is 4 wheel and switch back to 2 wheel during the run?

You can try to do that if you want, but the 4wd won't disengage while you're at WOT. Obviously you'll want to go back to 2wd after you pass through the traps so your drive back to the pits isn't in 4x4.
