Which tune for best MPG?

Whats up guys

Ive had my DP f5 for just about as long as ive owned the truck. Before the tuner, i got about 15mpg

Currently, i run around town, highway, race people, tow, everything......in my 80economy tune. I get an average of 16-17mpg in that tune, and i have it WOT quite often

My other tunes are:
60e
60t
the 80e ofcourse
120r
140a

My question to you guys is, what tune would get the best fuel milage?

Also, to all you other dp owners, what mpg do yall get and in what tune?

Happy Strokin

Im thinking of just bumping the tuner up a notch to the 120r and run a tank of fuel and see how that ends up.

To me, the 120r dont have as much bottom end power as the 80e, it might be just me

Driving empty the 80e should get you your optimum MPG. While hotfooting in it and towing with it, not so much.

You can always try it and see what you get. Just watch your temps.

Thanks for posting. We appreciate it.

Driving from indiana to florida I manage to get 18 hand calc. MPG on the 60e tune, driving around town stop and go i get around 16 on 80e tune... but I am also interested if the 120tune will be better because everyone on the forum says to run the highest tune for MPG at least what I read so subscribed

Since the day I put my dp on I've ran around in the 80e, how's the power on the 60e bud?

I've been driving in the 120 tune all day today and I'm about used to it, I don't notice anything power wise but I haven't really got on it yet, drove about 80 miles and my fuel needle has yet to move usually happens, but when it does finally move, boom. Empty. Ha

I'll let y'all know how this tank on 120 goes

126 miles and my needle hasn't even left the peg yet.

Maybe the 120 is a little better? Or it will drop drastically in another couple miles

there is a big difference between 80e and 60e, trying to accelerat past people in 60e going 70mph just doesnt cut it like the higher HP programs thats why i just put it one 60 after im on cruise control

I've yet to use my 60, once I get it all figured out on what tunes do best where I'll swap tunes as needed. Like full tank 120, half tank city driving and hot footing, 60 while cruising, and back to 80 on low fuel.
Will changing tunes often hurt anything?
Also, is there a limit to where I should change tunes while driving?

Diane,

I have a 2002 7.3L Excursion, 4R100 and the only known mods are a K&N Stage 2 and a 3.5 DP to a 4" exaust w/ 5" tip. I have 173K on the truck and I bought it in may. What tunes and set up would you reccomend? Most chips and programmers dont reccomend use in an EX.
Thank you,
Dave
