OK, here are the real results, the dealership filled it up the first time so I did not know how much tamping they did when they filled it up.

This weekend trip one with a heavy foot all day 13 mpg, trip two light foot 16 mpg, much more in line with what I had expected and appears to be the norm.

It freaked me out on that first tank, but I was not going to complain.

I have been playing with DFAs...

PS DFA
PS Diesel Kleen
Redline Fuel Catalyst
Marvels Mystery Oil
Castor 927 2-Cycle Pre-Mix

So far the best home blend has been...

4oz PS DFA
4oz Marvels Mystery Oil (Oil of Wingergreen)
25-Gallon Fill-up.

We picked up 2-mpg with that mix. Im not done playing though. Next is DFA & 2-Cycle.

The trick to using 2-cycle is remembering a few rules...

1st and foremost...LOW ASH!!!
2nd, be sure to use a 2-cycle that mixes with all fuel types. Thats why I use Castor. Its known to mix well with all fuel types.
3rd, very little 2-cycle during cold months. <40F and 2-cycle will seperate for sure.

Think about the 2-cycle concept, the oil is designed to lubricate prior to combustion. This lubrication will help injectors and injector pumps as well as the top end lubrication that its designed for. Realizing in a 2-cycle engine the oil is designed to lubricate the bottom end as well (Konch Principal) the minimal ratios (200:1) we are referring too will have very little or no impact on the bottom end.

The concept behind my home grown mix is to achieve the best of all worlds. The DFA provides cetane boost, anti-gel, water dispurtion and anti-bacterial components. Along with some increased lubricity.

The 2-cycle is strictly there to lubricate. Given that the major lubrication component of LSD (Low Sulfur Diesel) is the Sulfur. 500PPM isn't much.

As for ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel), this theory is even more amplified. 15PPM.

You hear about adding Waste Oil, ATF, Kerosene even a gallon of Gas to LSD in the forums. However, you need to be cautious of adding components that weren't/aren't designed to be mixed with fuel. Not to mention their impact on seals & o-rings.

Good night.

Diesel Fuel Additive,
Just added a new 4 inch exhaust, reprogrammed with Super Chip, Needs more air on the intake but runs greats, appears to have about a 3 mpg increase in mileage.
