What are the first upgrades and best upgrades for these old guys? Truck has 39,000 original miles and completely virgin 2wd standard cab work truck stripper. My biggest question is what chip or programmer is working best for you guys with the old faithfuls.
Thanks in advance for any help,
slydogracing@cox.net

I would say get a cold air intake and turbo back exhaust to get rid of that down pipe first. Then guages and a good chip. If you want bigger hp, then get some upgraded injectors and fuel system.

What type of programmers have you guys found to be best for these older ones. I run a Blank SCT from elite diesel on my 06 but I have no clue on these old models. The truck is for my son and he wants it to be peppy like mine but I am finding out its wayyyyy down on hp and torque.
Thanks again for any input and help on trying to get this beast up to par!!!

Get a chip from Tony Wildman. www.totaldieselperformance.com

It's the best way to go on the OBS. Like said above, replace the restrictive downpipe and intake and get some gauges. You can find some cheap tricks in the tech files, like FPR shimming, IDM mod, and DIY intakes.
