It should help

I think that dropping the 4" onto my 2001 one made a difference. I actually had it done first, along with the K&N while the hypertech was on the way. It made a nice change in the pitch and I thought the power levels with letting it breath. It was more based on the feel than any measurements... After letting the hypertech box do its thing then get put behind the seat for later, I was really enjoying a mid-tuned truck... I only went stage 2 to start- was all I needed at the time until I started towing. I recently decided stage 3 would be better to pull the 7500lb trailer through the hills and on the highway, and am really enjoying the unloaded performance also.

Question

Ok guy's this might be a shock to you all but I'm a girl:yikes
So be nice and explain things to me I would like a new Ford but don't have the money and I only have 50,000 miles on this truck so I thought I would put some $ into it. I tow a trailer, toyhauler 26foot and just want my truck to stay healthy. I didn't really know an exhaust was all that important.
Will it really make that big of a difference to have a 4 inch or bigger exhaust put on? and what is with all the different brands, are they not all made of the same stuff?

Any time you add anything to add power, you shorten the life. Personally, i want mine to last a long time, hence new filters more often, synthetic fluids and more fluid changes.
Bigger exhaust pipe gets the exhaust out faster letting the turbo spin up faster and pushing more air into the eng,,, more power. But here is the down side. More air in the cylinder creates more pressure on the rings and bearings shorting their life. More power means more pressure on the trans gears, rear end gears and tires. Your chose. What ever makes you happy. Preston

He is right, but to an extent. Putting an exhaust on is not going to shorten the life of your truck. Exhaust is one of the best upgrades you can do to actually lengthen the life of things....as we all know excessive heat is the enemy, and a bigger free flowing exhaust will help keep things a lot cooler. You may gain several horses that probably won't be too noticeable but in the end exhaust is not going to hurt your rigs life.

what are some of the other stackable programmers. I was thinking of the DP chip and was looking to stack that with a programmer. Has anyone done such a thing? I am looking into a 5" exhaust but I am concerned with loss of low end power. Any opinions? My truck is currently stock but will be doing exhaust, chip, gauges, intake, turbo wheel in the very near future. Do these power add-ons really need the 5" or will the 4" exhaust be enough. I want a nice deep sound. I need to stay with a SS exhaust dues to road elements.

Thanks for any input.

You can stack a chip with a module like 18k from DFUSER for the 5in. exh. with a 7.3 don't see any problems except for sound i read from guys with 6.
0 they need a little back pressure not 7.3 if u don't already have a chip why don't u try the neww release from DJ's he's excellent with powerstroke
hope ti help

Cool Confused and wanting the impossible.

Everybody seems to have an opinion.... I'd like a chip with 100 HP (advertised) maybe 75 at rear wheels?. What i would like is a Module that has a pryometer, setting for fuel economy, stock setting, setting for smoking tires, something i can tune for new larger tires, and something to let my truck run for five minutes after i remove the ignition key. Oh... and i don't want to spend $1000. I understand that chips are stackable. Does this mean what it implies? Thanks, a new confused diesel lover.
