F450 Powerstroke project
I have a new to me f450 with the powerstroke, I went ahead and bought it because it idles pretty good, but has no power down the road. I had it in a shop as a project and the only thing they could find was very low on oil due to a broke dipstick.
Now they thought it had a bad fuel pump ( I assume they mean sending unit in the tank with the cost they told me $650). I didn't want to spend that kind of money to have one working 20 gal tank, I wanted to put either a transfer tank on it and feed from that or an old semi tank. This is extended wheel base and has a 4 foot opening between cab and bed.
One thing I do not think they saw, was the person I got it from disconnected the back tank, and removed the fuel switch on the rail. The plug is just hanging there with no visible wire changes, does this mean the sending unit is not even on and could explain the poor running?
Are there pins in that plug I could cross temporarily to see if it runs better and then make the cross more permanent.
Also the fuel gauge is buried in over full which normally means it's not hooked up.
Thanks in advance.
