Do I need DPF delete?

My 2008 F250 is factory. I have had it about 2 years. My mileage is really suffering. I am getting 12mpg at 55mph not even towing and 9mpg around town. I frequently see blue smoke from the tailpipe and intermittently the diagnostic display says cleaning exhaust filter.

I did a few searches and the consensus seems to be to "delete the DPF"

What is DPF? Could someone give me specific advice on what to buy/do?

CILcoalroller6.4 recommended a Spartan programmer and AFE intake and DPF delete pipe from River City Diesel. Is that the consensus on this forum?

If I cannot get this fixed then I plan on trading this truck. I hate to do it, because otherwise I love it.

Thanks for any help for a new forum participant.

My other thought was that my exhaust is clogged. Should I change the exhaust filter? Does the DPF delete pipe remove the exhaust filter?

Thanks for any help.

Maybe try to post in the aftermarket and upgrade 6.4 section? lot of information in there in regards to your concerns.
