7.3 glow plug short. Fried the system. Throwing codes please help!!!

Well Friday I had a major malfunction after installing the new stancor glow plug relay. The BULL**** Autolite plug failed, shorted the system and fried up. Seemed that the glow plug fried the drivers side uvch and plugs. So I thought. I ran around like crazy to get the parts for yesterday so I could get my truck back on the road.

I got all new motor raft plugs. And new uvch's. I got everything installed and all yesterday. When I got done I tired the truck on and now the check engine light is on. Run my code reader through my edge cts and I'm throwing two codes and the trucks limping

P0603(Internal Control Module keep alive error)
P1316(Injector Driver Module codes detected)

What the hell do I do? Someone please help here

It might have fried the IDM. You need to ohms test the engine harness from the valve covers to the IDM. If wiring is good replace the IDM.

Will the IDM replacement fix the P0603 code?

The P0603 code means you have reprogrammed your PCM or I believe it can even trip from disconnecting your batteries. That code is not something to worry about.

Putting this old PMR truck to the test....

Okay cool yeah I removed the batteries to pull the intake and boost tubes. I can clear that code then and replace IDM and hopefully the truck will be good?

Are there any type of IDM I should be looking at? I have to replace it might as well help myself if I have to

Have you checked your fuses? Sometimes gpr will not totally blow a fuse but it will put an arc in it. Only way to tell is manually pull the fuses out and check for arc. Or use a test light. One side will be bright. The other will be dim. Good luck

Yeah I've tried that. Truck runs like ****. The IDM is definitely shot. There's no clearing this code. But the p0603 is just a memory reset from disconnecting the batteries.

if it running bad then I'd agree...that or check the hpop system (icp/ipr) just to rule it out.
