Is it a constant hum that just stops or does it taper off as the thirty seconds passes

Do you hear your injectors cycling during the glow plug cycle, especially on cold start? Does this hum sound anything like the injector cycling sound?

Im not real familiar with the older strategies, but there was at one point a PCM strategy that would cycle the injectors after the truck is turned off. I dont know how long it would do it for though. If this is what it turns out to be, you need to get the truck's PCM and FICM updated, because some of these older strategies are known as FICM killers, but you wouldnt know which strategies you have without plugging a diagnostic tool capable of pulling that kind of info.

I think the strategy idea may turn out to be correct, especially with it being an early truck. I'd have the hood up and have an assistant shut the engine down, then start listening and touching stuff to see if you can locate it. If you can't feel anything humming/buzzing, it may be the injectors.

To the new guys, y'all are welcome here. There has been a fair amount of drama around here lately but all in all the .org is a good group of guys that are willing to help.

if possible you could post a video via youtube or photobucket (as well as other options) to help the process.
