Differential/drive shaft problem?

When driving my 1999 7.3L F-250 i notice around 40 mph after the automatic tranny shifts into 3rd i hear a scraping/grinding noise and feel a rumble on the floor board. The sound last maybe 2 second, 3 tops and only happens when accelerating if i let off pedal mid noise the noise stops. generally the lower my rpms at the time the noise occurs it usually is louder. this is the only time i notice the noise and happens almost every time i get to the 35-50 mph range. I have noticed my differential was wet for about a week, it is dry now. could this be a differential problem?
All help appreciated
