7.3 just dies

I have a 2000 7.3L every once in a while it just dies thought it was the cam censor at first but replaced that and it still does it. Usually it dies at idle but the other day I got into it as i pulled out in traffic and it died but then took off like it ran out of fuel. Sometimes it will not want to start but if you cycle the fuel pump a few times it will start(maybe a coincidence?). Any suggestions? The truck has 4" mbrp exhaust, afe cold air intake, and a 6 position tuner that i am not sure what it is but i keep it on the low settings to be safe figured i would have it reprogrammed after i get injectors and fuel system.
