7.3 intermittent stall problem

Hey guys I have a 2001 7.3 4x4 6spd. I've noticed that when my RPMs drop suddenly like when clutching and braking to stop or when idling at an uphill stop sign the check engine light comes on and I have no power to accelerate,,, if I pump the accelerator a few times the light goes off and powers returns to normal until the next time ( almost every time I stop now).

anyone have any ideas??

the truck is stock with 195k miles.

2001 F350 CC 7.3 6spd 4x4 bone stock

There is a class action lawsuit against Ford due to delaminating fuel tanks. This may not be your problem, but it sure encompasses the year of your vehicle. I just finished putting in a new fuel tank and my second fuel pump, it is running great again. 2003 E350 7.3

I would probably start with the accelerator pedal position sensor. These new computerized engine controls.....Used to have a cable to tell the engine to add power, now it is a sensor on the pedal.....
