can 11 scanner

Howdy all, I've got starting problems. Well no start at all. I've got an 2004 f250 6.0, 380,000 kms. I drove to sons house, about an hour drive, all was fine. Shut it off, then started normally, backed into his garage, then 5 mins later, went to start it, it turned over normally about two cranks, then all of a sudden the speed of the starter dropped off to a crawl. I've since replaced starter (turns a little fast but not much) - batteries seem good hydrometer says ok, but replaced one in any event. I bypassed ignition, as well as main lead to starter- in case of corrosion in cable under casing, but cranking speed remains very slow. I checked the FICM, reading 48.2 V down to 48 when cranking. Fuel pump is working, filters were replaced two months ago, and there is fuel in the bowl at secondary filter. Aside from any ideas, can anyone recommend a good scanner (that doesnt require a mortgage) - I have a basic can2 type, (no codes - but I disconnected battery when replacing starter - call me dumb) , but this scanner it only displays codes, no engine info.

advice/recommendations appreciated.
