2003 6.0 turbo Deisel Problem
My F250 has been running great until 2 weeks ago. I have had 2 occasions where when the engine is cold and I am pulling my concession trailer the engine stumbles (won't accelerate) and there is heavy smoke coming out the exhaust (I believe it is blue??). The first time it happened it cleared itself out after about 5 seconds. The second time it took about 30 seconds. Not a diesel expert but if it was a gas engine I would suspect an ignition problem. Any help is appreciated!

I have a 2003 F550 with the same engine and have spent a lot fixing issues like that. Usually related to poorly operating injectors but could be EGR valve too. But before you spent like I did, try one of the oil additives discussed on various forums. I now have RevX in mine and it seems to make the engine run smoother and reduces smoking. Starts better too. You have to order RevX from a dealer and its about $65 to 70 for two bottles that are required for our engine. Seems pricey but new injectors are 250 to 350 each. Another out there that people have discussed is Hotshot. Sounds good too but haven't tried it. All the injector functions (and others) in the 6.0 are oil related. Oil helps operate lots of things (I'm not a mechanic either but have learned that much from the mechanics I pay)
