Rough Running
I have a '03 7.3 that runs terrible for the first 15 mins. When the air temp is 25-30 degrees. It's loud and shakes like crazy. After it warms up and even if I use the block heater it only runs slightly better. It doesn't blow smoke. Even when air temp goes above 55-60 it runs just ok, not great. It's had 4 fuel pumps, a turbo pedestal, and a slightly leaky injector replaced but nobody can figure it out. I'm no mechanic but I'm leaning toward an air intake problem. It has a K&N that is only slightly dirty. Is there some kind of air control thing that may be sticking closed or something else ?

The K&N isn't best for it. Hope the motor isn't dusted.
4 fuel pumps? That seems like parts were thrown at it. ![]() ![]() BTWIt might be a sticking EBPV, incorrect high pressure oil pressure which could be a bad ICP or IPR valve, bad fuel pickup in the tank, bad FPR on the fuel bowl. Any codes? |
