2010 F-250 will not start help please

I have 2010 F-250 6.4 mileage is 37335 engine hours 1147.On 1-2-12 the turck would not start towed it to dealer and they said no warranty metal in fuel filter housing and water in fuel. The fuel filter was changed at 21000 and changed at 36000. Dealer said there is metal all thru the fuel system. How did it get past both fuel filter and why did I not get water in fuel code or light can someone help?
