problem with 2000 temp gauge

I drove my truck this afternoon and all gauges worked. Came back out an hour later and drove about fifteen miles home. The temp gauge never moved off cold, but I had plenty of heat coming through the heater ducts so the engine wasn't running cold. Should I check fuses or something else ? Thanks.
