test for wiring harness on 7.3

Does anyone know how to check the wiring harness on a 1997 7.3 ltr? I checked the resistance on the ports under the valve covers( I have two ports per side) and the back pin(toward the cab) on each port showed 1 to 2 ohms of resistance to ground and the remaining three on both sides were open to ground. Is this normal? I pulled the IDM and it does have a burned electrical smell to it. I should say the truck has 319000 miles and was running just fine but at a idle in driveway, it just started to shake and then quit running. It will restart but hard to keep going and feels like on 4/6 cyclinders.
Help.. not ready to put this old boy down.( I think my 2008 is hoping it would die )
