cooling system issues

hello. I just purchased my first powerstoke. 2008, with 100k miles. i like the truck, however it is using coolant. about 1/2 gallon per tank. I can not find a visiable leak. is there a common failure item. my friend it freeking out that I bought a ford. I want to prove him wrong. also. what about the removal of the regen system. there are no vehicle inspections where I live. I will be pulling a 24 foot cuddy cabin boat with the truck. thanks dale
