Why does this cost 1200 bucks to fix as its so common??? I am at whits end with my 2004 powersstoke 6.0 - i live in Arizona so its not the weather - replace the alernater x2, starter ,ERG oil and coolant housing, 2 batteries, turbo line problems, $7000 in the last year - why do these stink so much????? I maintain it do what is right not hard on it, tow only once in a blue moon and every time it just goes to crap - and ford cares not- unless its american idol and needs a song - here is one "my powerstroke is always broke, im in a hop but again its in the shop, pulls no joke as it pourrrs white smoke, and im always broke !! sing it to any tune" Looks like customer satisfaction is again up for grabs

You can get a rebuilt one from Swamps for $400 and if you have even basic mechanical skills you can change it in about 30 mins to 2 hours at the most.

I was about to say the same thing. The FICM is very easy to test and to replace.

I would just tell them to put the FICM on and go get it and see how it does. You should ask them about the FICM half-shell. I don't know if you had the early FICM and if you did you wouldn't be able to replace the half-shell if it had 7 torx bolts but if they could just replace the half-shell it costs $515 and labor should be no more than 3-4 hours. Just for thought.
