Horrible Fuel Mileage..2008 F450 6.4L

Just purchased a 2008 F450 2WD Crewcab Dually with 112,000mi to replace my 2003 Silverado Duramax with 170,000mi, and I am getting terrible fuel economy even with a DPF-R tuner which came with the truck. I have run through several tanks of fuel and have reset the mpg counter and am only averaging 10mpg running mostly Hwy. I do believe I am experiencing egr cooler failure which is apparent by some white smoke at startup, but should that make MPG that bad? Any input would be helpful. So far my experience with my first ford truck has been less than satisfactory.

Have you checked your milage manually? I wouldn't trust the factory milage meter.

Also the white smoke at start up isn't a very good way of diagnosing an egr failure.

Good luck!! Keep us posted.

Also noticed the the DPF has been removed and a straight pipe installed. I called Ford earlier today and they told me there is an ECM recalibration recall open. Is this DPF delete going to cause any issues if I take it in?..also is a DPF delete emissions compliant?

Well where did you purchase the truck? Did you run an Oasis or carfax? A lot of issues can be avoided when one does this. EGR failure can result in loss of fuel mileage. Simply because it contributes to the entire fuel system. If you bought it from a dealer, take it back and tell them the problem?

I am a dealer actually, bought it at auction to use to pull my trailer when I go buy classic cars. It came from New Mexico. It is going into Ford for a recall in a few days, I guess I will see what they have to say. What is the Oasis report
