low coolant temp

just wondering what my coolant gauge should be showing.seems to be low on gauge after running all day.never gets above one quarter inch above cold.always has hot heat and runs great.is this normal or am i looking at stuck thermostat.99 f 350 7.3l .or maybe bad gauge.gonna ck actual coolant temp today when she warms up.what is reading i should be looking for on this engine.

Get some real gauges. That thing on your dash is meaningless.

temp

ok, checked with gauge and after 40 mile trip ,stays at 175 degrees .seems ok.just wondering what temp thermo should be in there.never had overheat prob,even pulling trailer.just seems a little low,but not complaining.i know shouldnt overheat running low,just saying that the meaningless gauge must be close to right.
