6.0 Tow/Haul Flashing and Check Guages On
I have a 2004 350 6.0. While pulling a 4 ton load using Tow/Haul mode and cruise control (maybe shouldn't do that??) the "check gauges" came on along with the Tow/Haul light started flashing. When these lights come on the Trans. Temp. Gauge goes down to cold. I had the codes read by a local shop that has a reader for Ford Specific codes and I got codes for cruise control and A/C problems. My cruise and A/C are working fine. Based on other things I've read, I was expecting a code for trans. Temp sensor. Now I don't know what to think.
The Truck is running and shifting fine, even while towing. The guy tried to clear the codes but the lights came back. Transmission has been serviced with appropriate fluids. Any guidance would be great. I can't afford the Ford Service right now and want to fix this myself if it isn't over my head. Thanks for any info. Mark L |

The cruise code is relevant. However there are other codes in the system. You need to take it to a shop that has more than a basic code reader

Had this problem last summer, I believe it was the trans temp sensor. However when my light started flashing the truck didn't want to go into overdrive. |

The guy who read the codes told me his reader read Ford Specific codes. I saw "Snap On" on the reader but I don't know enough about it to know if his reader is what I need or not. |
