Grilled Beef Skewers With Lime And Hoisin

Beef Skewers

1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp finely grated, fresh peeled gingerroot
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/4 tsp hot garlic chili sauce
1 lb top sirloin grilling steak, trimmed of fat cut into 1/4-inch slices
12 wooden skewers, soaked in warm water for 20 minutes

Dipping Sauce

1/3 cup hoisin sauce
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tbsp fresh lime juice

Combine the garlic, ginger, lime juice, hoisin sauce, soy sauce and chili sauce in a medium bowl. Add the steak to the marinade, toss well to coat and marinate at room temperature for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, combine the dipping sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread steak slices onto the skewers, dividing the beef evenly among all 12 skewers. Discard used marinade. Grill the beef skewers on an oiled grill for 2 minutes per side for medium-rare or until desired doneness. Serve skewers with the hoisin dipping sauce. Serves 4.

Tip: The marinade and dipping sauce also work well with pork or chicken.
