I carry a S&W .38 Model 640 with the Crimson Trace sights. The gun itself is a little heavy (stainless), but when I've got it in my Galco Classic Lite Shoulder System, you don't even realize it's there. This holster is only good for when you can wear a jacket over it so I only use this holster in the cooler months. In the summer I use an Uncle Mike's inside the waistband holster.

I'm not sure about the XDM-40, but I carry the XD-40 Service Model. I believe it's around the same size as yours. Any good pancake holster will conceal the pistol quite well. That's what I use and you can't even tell it's on me. I also weigh in at 190 lbs., and I don't even have to wear very loose fitting clothing.

Enjoy that pistol, i love mine! It shoots great and has great put down power. Load that bad boy with some good hollow-points to assure yourself that you mean business, lol...although you won't need to with that gun.

the XDM has a half inch longer barrel and a little longer grip. but not much bigger than the XD. I have been thinking about one of those super tucks. they look like the most comfterble for a full sized gun. when I carry it will be loaded with gold dots. although I hope I never have to use it I know those will get the job done!

I cant wait till my permit comes.

Hornady 45 ACP+P 230GR,

I've shot most ammo and I really like the way Hornady performs.

From my Compact 40 desert eagle to my 45 Taurus daily carry they work the best,

Ive thoght about trying their new TAP-FPD ammo. Ive always liked hornady ammo in my hunting rifles. havent never shot much in pistols.

One of these days I wanna get some gelatin blocks and do some testing and see which ammo will really perform in a defense gun. accuracy only can account for so much. I shot a 16 round 4 inch group @ 15yards in 11.3 seconds to qualify for my ccp using cheapo FMJ blazers I am confident I could hit any one where ever I chose to place my shot with those bullets... but... the damage it will do and stopping power is very questionable.

Sounds like you need a combat handgun course. Do some searches for them in your area as well as checking out some of teh local swat websites.

Cant tell you how much it helped me. Its not how fast its how well.

I carry 8 rounds in my 45 and a spare clip with 7, my 45 leaves big holes....

Have you had a look at a SmartCarry? I often use that with my M&P9C.
