My new CC protection!
I wanted something smaller and lighter than my Ruger P89, picked up a Springfield Armory XDS .45. Gonna head to the range sometime next week to break her in and get comfortable with her operation.

That's too much weight for me Bryan, my P89 with 10 round loaded mag weighs just over 2lbs. After a couple of hours, it gets uncomfortable. I also didn't care for the large frame size with summer clothing.
After the holidays, I'm gonna buy a Crossbreed IWB for the XDS. Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App |

Got two boxes of FMJ to break her in, I know the shop owner, so he only charged me for one box. I'll stock up on a couple more boxes for the range, and get a box of HP for carry.

That's still a lot of weight for me! The XDS only weighs 21.5oz empty. Much lighter than my Ruger empty. Maybe I'm getting too old!! LOL!

The last couple of days I've been Internet researching on good/bad reviews and stopping at the local shops to handle different models, and asked for opinons/reviews from the locals. I looked at just about every Glock model, Ruger LC9, Baretta Nano, SW M&P, among other name brand companies.
I just kept coming back to the XDS, she felt good. Reviews came back as keep her clean and wet lubed, no limp wristing, and break her in with any where from 100-300 rounds. Some people were having issues with the battery not fully seating and causing a light fire pin strike. Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App |

The light fire pin strike would almost be enough to make me walk away from that model for the use that you intend to use this weapon for.
If I just wanted a fun compact easy to carry weapon that I wasn't going to CC for protection should I ever need it than I like what you picked up, but the fact that there are people having occasional (not sure how often) light firing pin strikes would scare me to use this as a CC personal protection weapon incase of misfire when I ever needed it. |
