Concealed Carry Sidearm

Hey guys, I'm gonna turn 21 here in a few months and am starting to look for a good CC pistol. I'm only 5'8" and around 150 lbs. so I'm pretty skinny.

I'm lookin' at going with a Kimber Pro-Carry II .45 ACP.

It's only 28 oz. empty and all aluminium, but with a price tag of almost a grand with night sights, it seems a bit pricy to me.

So does anyone have any suggestions of a CC pistol that is lightweight, and realitivly small so I'll be able to carry it.

i got a sig239 that i love. $650 for the whole CC kit that came with 3 mags, holster, (2)mag holder, and nightsights on the handgun. my only complaint is the mags only hold 7 rounds of .40

was also looking at glock 23. sig was cheaper when you factored in having to get holster and extra mags an all. also this is a bit fatter, but i think you can fir 12 or 14 in the mag.

also look at kimber .45 SIS. even though it was $1100, the reason i could not have gotten it is that there is a big backup on them and my permits would have run out by the time it got delivered. gotta love the garbage state, wait 30-60 for a handgun permit that is only good for 90 days, well you can get it extended for another 90 if you give the detective a good reason. oh and soon to be one handgun a month law. dont get me started...

The wife and i both have bersa 380's. Yeah they are not as big of caliber as a 45 but they are $299 and fit real nice into your pocket.

Is this going to be a CC and weapon you will shoot a lot for fun, or will it be just a straight up CC?

My wife carries a Glock 27. She loves it. I carry a Les Baer 1911. It is a little hard to conceal. But it can be done

I carry a S&W PD340 .357 scandium revolver. Light as a feather and will bring down anything it hits. Just make sure you hit your target with the 1st shot due to its recoil

I have carried a full size 1911, Kimber Ultra compact, Glock 23, Glock 27 and this little revolver is the easiest to conceal period regardless of what you are wearing. Slides right in your pants pocket...................

It'll more than likely be just for CC. I'm lookin' at getting a .357 Ruger GP100 for a shoot alot gun.

My suggestions (and what I carry but not all at once) In order.

Springfield Subcompact 40 S&W also available in 9mm (I've fired close to a THOUSAND rounds in this gun without 1 Jam)

Ruger LCP 380

S&W hammerless 38 (another very good gun, just not much for capacity)

My wife carries a Bersa 380 which she loves and occasional a model 27 Glock.

Kahr makes an Itty Bitty 9mm thats worth checking out. (EDIT: It's called the PM9)

What it really boils down to though is what you discover that you like. Caliber doesn't really matter (within limits) as long as you like it. If you don't like it, you won't carry it.

I love my Springfield Armory XDM 40. Thats my CC of choice. My wife has a Taurus 380, but she is going to get rid of it for a XDM 9mm.
