Ky concealed weapon

I carry Llama IX-D in .45. No sharp points. Weighs 39 oz. Single action only, so I keep 13 in clip and one in the hole. Had to polish feed ramp, throat the chamber and open ejection port a bit. Comes fully parkerized with night sights. Great price for the firepower

I saw a quote I really like on m1911.org. It went something like "carrying a concealed weapon should be comforting, not comfortable." I carry a Kimber TLE because it is by far the sidearm that I'm most proficient with. I think that is the most important thing. A government length 1911 is not the most concealable or comfortable piece, but a quality holster goes a long way in both areas. 6000 rounds downrange and it truly feels like an old friend in my hand. Find a firearm that suites you and practice, practice, practice. If you aren't truly prepared to be competent with your chosen piece, leave it at home. Keep in mind what a huge responsibility you are taking on by carrying. I think that gets overlooked too often. Sorry if I'm being too soapboxy for my first post.

obviously everyone has their own preferences but as someone that carries almost everyday i carry a Browning .380 and love it. Its powerful enough to stop someone but still light and carries 14 rounds. go to a local gun range and shoot a couple different guns. you just have to see what works for you. there are a ton of options out there

You hit the nail on the head when you used those THREE FANCY WORDS - practice, Practice, PRACTICE.
If you want to save your life, you have to be SO READY that when it happens, you will do it INSTINCTIVELY. There can be NO THINKING. Just pull your gun and HIT YOUR TARGET, no second thoughts.
If you went thru basic training in the military, you recall that they trained you relentlessly so you didn't even have to think about what you were doing. It just 'happened'.

^5 ! to you DozierPilot

BTW
for any of the rest of youse guys, there is a great book written by LTC David Grossman that you would do well to read, called "ON KILLING". Lots of distasteful things in it but if you carry, or if you think you're going to carry, you absolutely have to read it. And it's available at your local library if you don't want to spend the $$$ on it.

And if you like to read, one more book worth reading is "TERROR AT BESLAN", by John Giduck. Again, somewhat distasteful but it lets you know who your enemy is today and gives you MANY good things to think about.

this is my daily carry gun during the warm months. When it gets cold enough I go to a full size 1911 with a leather shoulder holster. both are very very comfortable

My CC is a XD40 (when not in uniform).
My advice to the OP, the best pistol for you to carry is the one that fits most comfortably in your hand. If you aren't comefortable holding it and firing it, it's worthless to carry it.

I say pack your bags and leave unconstitutional states such as yours . You have a seemingly REAL governor now, so petition him to change the liberal laws

Maybe now that you have a (somewhat) honest governor, you just might have a chance. This will, hopefully, snowball and in '010 get more of them crooks fired from your legislature and then you might be able to petition your legislators (read that - write letters and TELL them what you'se guys NEED) to allow you to protect yourselves.

Keep the pressure on them, both before and during election years.

I was at the store a couple weeks back and held a couple of the Kimber's including the Pro-Carry II. The only problem is my hands are too small to reach the slide release without having to move my hand. I also held a Glock 23 chambered in 40 S&W and it fit perfectly into my hand and I could easily reach everything.

Before I commit to purchasing one however, I want to try out a couple of SIGs. My old man had a P-226 in 9mm and it fits both of our hands, but I'm looking for something with a bit more knock down power than a 9mm.
