I have the glock 23 and 27, Im about your size and i carry the 27 everywhere. If you are looking for something smaller the Ruger LCP looks very nice and i have been considering one. Another good choice is kahr their pistols are slimmer than the glock a couple of my buddys have them and they are nice

My wife and I carry either a Taurus Pro Millennium .40 $300 at acadamy or a Springfield XD .40 $450 at gun show and can conceal either pretty well. Dad carries a 38 ultralight $300 at gun show or his Glock 17 $460 at gun show depending on where he is going.

.357 and 45's are some pretty stout guns for someone your size. Sure it can be done, but you haven't said if you have much expierence with firearms. Remember this, it's better to hit with a 380 than to miss with a 45!! I always recommend a revolver or a Glock to those new to firearms, just because of the simplicity. A 357 wheel gun makes a lot of sense because you can shoot mild 38 special loads for practice. I have had my CC permit for 14 years now and I have been around guns my entire life. I commend you on getting your permit, my wife and I both have ours and so will my kids when they become of age. Something you will soon discover is there is no one gun for every day use. Yes you can make one gun work, but it isn't ideal. My EDC ( every day carry) changes due to weather, where I am going, and how I need to dress. I have several guns to choose from and several holsters for each gun. My usualy EDC is a Glock 23, with +2 mag extensions I carry 16 rounds of .40 cal, I tote this in a Bianchi Carryloc. I also carry a S$W 649 ( .357 snub nose) in my right front pocket in a Desantis Nemisis holster, it's either that or a NAA Guardian in 380 or 32 acp in the right front pocket, that's right I usually have two guns on me at all times. The fastest relaod is always a second gun!!!
My best advice for you is to visit a indoor range that rents guns or make friends with someone who owns a lot of guns and shoot as many as you can. What is right for me may be totally wrong for you, so what everyone else carries is useless for you. I will say this, buy a quality firearm for CC, your life may depend on your choice of weapon. Once you purchase your firearm practice as much as you possibly can. I will also recommend a forum alled DefensiveCarry Concealed Carry Forum it is all about CC and packed with a lot of good info. Feel free to PM me with any ? I will help you all I can.

I've been around firearms my whole life. Began shooting when I was nine and have been shooting pistols for about 5 years now, so experience is really not an issue.

the gp 100 is an awesome gun, not so much for cc. i have a glock 20 10mm, it is the best round i have ever shot. if a full size glock is to much for ya check out the 29. 10mm blows a 45acp out of the water. just my 2 cents

I would strongly suggest the 340 S&W I personally have the M&P version for my backup/off-duty gun. The biggest reason I reccomend the 340 is the fact that a cc gun does you no good if you don't carry it! Since I got my M&P340 it goes everywhere with me, carry it right in my front pocket in a pocket holster and no one has a clue. It is small and light, perfect for everyday carry and packs plenty of punch. The m&p is also nice cause it has night sights on it and is about the same cost as the all scandium versions. Great gun, shoot 38 to practice and 357 to carry cause they are not too much fun to shoot but you will never notice it in the heat of the moment. Good luck to you, always fun to get a new gun no matter what it is
