I'm being very careful with this one. My son turns 21 in August and will get the handgun of his choice for his birthday. It will be a 4" SS Judge. Good choice I might add. My 19 YO daughter will be living off campus in an apt. and I want to arm her with a 9mm auto for home defence. But if she had to use it, she would be in Federal violation. So what to do ?

King-
I would look at more of a non-lethal choice for her, depending on local laws... or maybe a little 20ga shotgun?
I have a few more years to worry about my daughter moving out, or going to school for that matter so it will be intersting when it happens! But on the posative side, it gives me a whlie to build up the collection... and this deployment should help for atleat two...

buy her a shot gun for home defense. legal at 18 and easier to use. get her a taser and peper spray to use when not at home.

Edit: I read on farther to see works beat me to it. good to know some of us think so much alike!

Blowing smoke isnt breaking a law all the time. Cops around here said if you have a vertical exhaust (stacks) then they cant give you a ticket, unless your haulin *** and black out the road, then its a danger thing. Oh well, my neighbor is a cop and has the sexiest cleanest obs psd anyway. But the gun laws are just dumb. Its all because of the wanna be gangster kids anyway. I say let them shoot eachother..

Well here is the thing. Until the government can absolutely guarantee my safety I do not feel they can tell me I do not have the right to protect myself. When they can guarantee my safety I'll start giving a shat about their ignorant gun laws.

The problem is they'll shoot at us too, or we'll be caught in the crossfire.

You can do a grey purchase if you wish. Which is where you legally purchase the firearm. Then you legally transfer it to her. But catch 22 is she may not be able to purchase the ammo for it.

Best thing is a shotgun for her. She is 18 she can legally posess it. She can legally buy ammo for it. Plus a shotgun has many other good uses.

Look at the 870 homedefender with door breach barrell. They are on sale alot at Bass Proshops. You can even get it with the slug barrell as a combo.

Another one is the Mossberg 500 home defender. basically same setup as the 870 but it is a mossberg.

You can fit the shotgun out with a recoil stock. Meaning it takes in the recoil from the shot fired. Makes it real nice to shoot a shotgun, making the shotgun even more versatile.
