Which do i use

So if i wanted to make a DVD, ya know, put some downloaded movies on a DVD, or whatever else i wanted to do, what type of dvd do i use.. i see there are DVD-R, DVD+R... what is the difference and what should i use to make sure it can be viewed with any DVD player?

i use dvd+r, but you need to go by what your computer will burn, some only burn one or the other.

You need to make sure your burner will burn either or, or if it only burns certain format.
