So if i wanted to make a DVD, ya know, put some downloaded movies on a DVD, or whatever else i wanted to do, what type of dvd do i use.. i see there are DVD-R, DVD+R... what is the difference and what should i use to make sure it can be viewed with any DVD player?

You need to make sure your burner will burn either or, or if it only burns certain format.
