Do you have a Best Buy around you at all?
I have bought 3 laptops from there and gotten a fairly good deal on them. They weren't anything special, but they all had 15.4 inch screen, dual core proccesors and at least 2GB of ram. I don't have to much time right now, but I will gladly help you later. The machines I bought we 2 Sony's and one HP, none were over $650. Infact one Sony was $550.. You just have to watch the stores and the ads since their prices change a lot. Just to give an idea. Sony - VAIO Laptop with Intel® Centrino® Processor Technology - Silk White - VGN-NS140E/W |

just go to dell.com, they run a 15" laptop for like $499-$549 all the time
also check walmarts, bestbuys, etc, they regularly throw a decent laptop up at a reasonable price. Another idea is check Circuit City, they are closing their doors everywhere, so everything is marked down as they clear out inventory. |

If you aren't doing anything more than surfing the net and listening music (as you posted) then you should be able to find something around $450-$500.
I've got an extra Dell E1505 if you're interested. I'd let it go for $500 + shipping. It's less than a year old. I bought it for my fiance and she used it for a few days, then found another Dell, but pink....so needless to say... ![]() When I get back to my office tonight I'll post some specs on it. I'll throw on a few goodies for ya as well .Also...go to your local Circuit City and ask them for their "open box" laptops. They usually have plenty of them (although I'm not sure now since they are closing down). They are priced right around the range listed above and they are pretty nice machines. I buy those and tweak them a bit to sell to clients looking for a laptop at a good price without Vista. Good luck! Sergio |
