DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support

Is a DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support a recordable drive for DVD's? I final was trying to put some home movies on a DVD thinking and hoping my laptop could do this but I can't get it to work? What do you think????

Problem fixed, I was using windows movie maker and it didn't reconise I had a DVD burner. Used Sonic software that came on it and it worked.
