What DID happen to the good old days? I'm not talking about Atari or CalecoVision. Yes, these systems may have started the gaming revolution, but having owned both(2500, 2600, & the CV), their lifespans tended to be short. No, I'm talking about the ones that REALLY lit the fuse; Nintendo & Sega. After my Atari(s) were long-gone to the incinerator, it took me some serious fanessing & butt kissing to my parents to buy a Nintendo, because they thought $92 was; "Wicked expensive!" When they finally caved-in, I got my 1st Nintendo @ 8yrs. old. From then on, I collected as many games as I could; birthdays, Christmas, lawn mowing, etc. until the battle between Sega Genesis & SNES engaged. Back then, not knowing better, I once again depended on my parents generosity only to double the fanessing & butt kissing for a Sega Genesis that cost $149.99 with only 1 paddle because that was; "WICKED, FRIGGIN' EXPENSIVE!!!" When I finally got it, I did the same as I had with my beloved Nintendo. Over more time, I obtained a Sega Master system with 50 games(although 6 of them were doubles

) & borrowed a friend's SNES that I had never given back, & started obtaining games for it as well. Then after that, the gaming explosion had begun. Sega CD for the Genesis, Sega Saturn, the debut of PS1, N64, PS2, GameCube, etc., just seem to come & go! Like the lifecycle of a game console is only a few years & then something bigger & better comes out. I've made it all the way up to PS2 & XBOX360(still can't afford that damn PS3) & wonder; "How much longer before these systems are dried-up & forgotten? Then I look back @ my Nintendo, Segas, & SNES & wonder more; "What was wrong with these systems? Why? Why did the world leave them?" I recently counted my games for each, & they are as follows:
Nintendo: 288
Sega MS: 54
Sega Genesis: 205
SNES: 164
Then I look @ games for the newer systems, & all of them together don't total up to any one of the older systems alone! Another thing too I've noticed is you can beat any of the games for the newer systems, but you couldn't beat all of the games for the antiques, could you? Heck, for most of Nintendo's games didn't even have a difficulty selection! & Sega's & SNES's were mostly Hard, Med, Easy. For all of us 'Old Schoolers' who miss the old days as much as I do, let's hear a shout for your favorite system(s) & let's also hear your favorite classic games. I wanna hear something from the Atari/Caleco crowd if you're still out there too!
