I'm looking at phones and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the S4.

I have the S3. I love it. Big screen is nice. But my battery life needs improvement. Not sure if they took care of that issue with the S4.
Picture quality is great, screen quality is great. Just get a case for it, i broke my S3 after broking it a couple times. Since i fixed it and got a case, no issues yet.

Thanks. Camera quality is important for me. I'm currently running a Motorola Droid X2 and I loved it when it was reliable but lately its just not reliable and there is no update for it. I was steered toward the S3 but I kinda liked the idea of the 13mp camera of the 4.

That conspiracy theory has already crossed my mind. It really sucks that we live in a disposable society.

i had the first Galaxy S. It was nice. Then the battery slowly got ****ty. Upgraded to a big battery worked for a while then it got bad. Bought the S3, loved it, but broke it. Was too costly too fix at the time so went back to the S. Finally fixed my S3 and back in love. But I do have the international version, meaning faster processor and more memory.

Nope battery life still stinks! Can't go a normal work day for me with regular youtube, email or app access on a single charge... My iPhone would go 1.5 days and my S2 and S4 are both 8 hr machines

ya, the phone last a long time if you turn off wifi, data, screen brightness and never get on the internet lol.

but if that is the case, i would have just bought an old nokia lol.

i just bought a phone charger to work so i can get on the web, play games, listen to music.

Well that doesn't sound good. I don't use my phone at work unless I leave the building, then I use navigation and I will have to call in. I will cruise the net/text at lunch. Looks like I'll need multiple chargers if I go that route.

How would y'all rate the S4 against the iphone5?

I have read reviews online but I'd rather hear first hand accounts.

I'll take a Samsung over an iPhone anyday. Mainly because it's not an iPhone. Something to look at, knowing the work you do, is the Casio G'zOne series. I have the Ravine 2 as it fit my GSM needs at the time, but the Commando should work fine for you. Drop proof, water proof, temperature proof, decent battery life. I leave mine in my pocket when I go swimming and maintain a signal under water. But, for smart phone stuff, I would go Commando. Ravine 2 is just a ruggedized Nokia flip phone.
