9 out of 10 people at the stores dont knwo their own hole from one in the ground. The best advise i can give you since im not near as smart at camcorders as i am at computers is when your looking for a product you dont know much about is go to a popular store site, i like to use Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! they sell everything electonics, but whats great about it is that users rate the product then write reviews, so you can hear about all the good and bad about it before hand. Good luck in your search bud!

Hey Matt I have a small JVC hard drive unit. It was rather inexpensive and the only complaint that I have is the storage drive could be bigger, but it will hold a few hours. At my last job I had a Sony DVD camera. It was about $700 and recorded to mini DVDs. The camera worked great and the only downfall was the mini DVDs don't hold a lot of footage.
The hard drive is the best option all around. If you have a DVD burner it doesn't take long to transfer your videos or you can just store them on your computer. Another great option is the Sony DVD recorder that is a stand alone DVD recorder. We had one of those with the Sony DVD camera and would just hook the camera up to it and walk away. We always needed copies of the video for different things. That DVD recorder is also handy to transfer old VHS tapes over to DVD or record movies off your DVR/Tivo. |

First item to decide is High Def or not high def. (When they stop extending standard broadcasts ,will you upgrade to hi def tv ?) Then after that its pretty much price dependant. Online....checlout abesofmaine.com. They have gotten good feedback for a while. (Be wary of the many scammers in the camera field online) CC or BB ??? be prepared to pay a premiun for "instant gratification" and be prepared for them to try and sell you a service package...intensely!" Last time i purchased from CC, i had to demand they remove it from the invoice and scolded the store manager for putting it on the bill in the first place. He was offended...too bad!
If you're not interested in service policies...I say NO tHANKs...I am a risk taker..some smile...but it always kills the sales pitch dead in its tracks. When shopping at radio shack...and they ask for my name...i get annoyed at that too..they have been asking me that for 35 years and they still dont remember. Occasionally... I just say "anonomous" It works. |
