Ripping DVD to pc, then transferring to Android tablet

so the title is pretty descriptive. i cant seem to find out how to copy dvds i already own into a digital format, and then send to my android. I traded the wifes Envoy in on a lil mitsu, and would rather have digital copies of my movies, so i can just let the kid watch them on the tablet rather than installing a dvd player. i tried to figure out Handbrake.com, semed to be more geared toward mac. im not very computer savvy, so this need to be dumbed way down lol.

You can use WMP but VLC works best for playback.
