Data Recovery

I have a external hard drive that took a dump. Took it to a local shop and they tried to force access it, put the HD in another box but no luck. They said it needed to go to a clean room but man those are expensive. Anybody out there got any hook ups that i can try. I have a lead on a head tech at a repair center but not sure if they do data recovery. All it has is ALL my pictures and music. If anyone can help id appreciate it.
Eric

Sorry, bro. I can't help ya, but I've had great experience with data doctors. I always take our hdd's that need recovering to them.

Do you know any police officers that could hook you up?

Vital,
That won't help because what has failed on the hard drive is likely a problem with the heads or the motor, meaning that forensic software wouldn't be able to pull any data. The platters need to be physically removed from the drive and remounted into another drive to be copied over to another drive. Unfortunately, that has to be done in a clean room or you will contaminate the platters and ruin the drive.

When you say took a dump what's it doing? Clicking/grinding, just won't show up, or gives you an error trying to access it?
