Need a little computer help.

OK...so I got my 'new' laptop and installed a few wardriving-type programs....mostly for fun and what not. I got one program that DLed as a winzip file...so I DLed freewinzip and unzipped it. There is no "Install" or "Drivers" file, so I poked around and found a "Configure" readme file that states something to the effect of "run yada yada (like '.config' or something like that) then 'make' then 'make.config'" Question is; where do I type all this in? Do I need some other type of program? If you need me to send you the links to the programs I DLed PM or e-mail me and I will. I would really like to get these programs up and running so I can get familiar with them before I take my Laptop and all on the road. Thanks.

I have the programs...(I'm nearly computer retarded) and I read the readme files, looks like I have to DL some OTHER programs and run some scripts to get it all to work. Wish I had someone local to just come over and do it for me...running scripts scares me.

Ditty,
You need to download a package for Windows. You downloaded a Linux package and it won't work on your system, unless you are running cygwin. But your not, so that's not gonna work. What application are you trying to install? I have used a number of them, but my fav is AirSnort. You might wanna try AirSnare. It is simple to install and configure and there aren't many dependencies. Good luck!

OK...so this morning, when I got home, I spent about an Hour in the DOS Command Prompt trying to get 'em to work. (Still can't) I'm trying in install AirCrack-NG and AirSnort. (Why can't they we easy to get working like NetStumbler was???) Ahhh... I'll see if I can get with someone locally who knows WTF to do.

Ditty,
Download "cygwin" and install it - link
Open cygwin and follow your instructions to compile your installation - link

Give that a try.

I got Cygin this morning after work. I'm still working with it to get 'em all working right. The roommate really wants me to see if I can crack the encryption on our Wifi from inside the truck. I dunno if my USB wifi card is going to cut it for the range...but we'll see. I'm in the works in getting a Orinoco PCI card with an antenna plug on it for vehicular use. I'll try and get it working in the morning when I get off work. Thanks for the help.

Go to RARlabs get WinRAR it will open DANG ner ANYTHING, and it is FREE!! It says trial, but I have never had it run out on me.

WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files

I agree with Rodslinger, if you can't unzip the wardriver, I think I would stay clear of Wardriving!
