Magellan GPS prob.

I got a Magellan eXplorist 500le yesterday. While playing with it I discovered, this is a pretty cool little device. Pretty slick. Well, today I'm trying to install the MapSend software (on to pc), it's not working to well. I got the install wizard cd to work and installed it with success, but the Mapsend cd doesn't do anything. I put it in and I can hear it spin, the little light flashes steady, then it stop's. I'm getting a little on the p.o.'d side. Any one else have an issue with thier's? Also I was reading in the book, not all Magellan software is compatable with the eXplorist series of hand held GPS reciever's. They wouldn't send me software that's not compatable with the unit I purchased in the same box, would they?

I think I got it figured out. They said that the cd is dvd based and wouldn't work in a regular cd-rom. I need a dvd-rom. I don't have a dvd-rom. Is there any way around it computer guru's?

ok so, i have found that internal drives are WAY cheaper than external. What's the diffrence between the two besides one goes inside and one goes out? diffrent kind of connection? can you make and internal external?

if you have an expansion slot on the face of you cpu what you do is take the knockout out and slide your dvd rom in and you will see the connectors that you need to make it operational.or youu can remove the existing cd rom and replace with the dvd rom.you can buy a extenal box that can make your internal rom an external rom but that is getting expensive.did you go to the tiger direct web site i sent you?which rom did you pick out?

I looked some up on that site and found an external sony model drx-830u for $75 but i went to best buy to get it because they are close and saved on shipping. it work's. Now i need to buy the cd's or dvd's, what ever you want to call them, to get some detailed maps. the cd's they sent were just for managing and converting the format to work on the gps unit. that web site did have some kick but prices on sd card's. which I'll need if i ever want to save a huge map and/or a lot of way point's. thank's for your help guy's.
