Question A good ripper for CD --> MP3 please

What's your favorite one? I just need something basic; I'm not editing songs for ringtones or anything.

What operating system? If windows, then Media Player does a decent enough job of it, you just have to go into preferences and tell it you want to make MP3 rather than WMA. Another oldie but goodie is Winamp, it's free and does a decent job.
If you are using linux, Asunder, K3b, Grip, or the like will do the job.
Mac, then you are stuck with iTunes or Max.

I mostly use Windows and my favorite is still Media Player, you can change your bit rate, organize your library, edit tags easily, and its already installed when you have Windows.

+1. If you want to rip MP3s I'd just use the built-in media player.

Many thanks gentlemen. It's Windows XP Home. I'll try the built-in player. How about 8-track --> MP3?

LOL. I'm sure there is a way to do it if you really needed to, there are LP to MP3 and cassette to MP3 out there, why not 8-track?

And yeah... 8-track to mp3 is going to be a multi-step, painful process...
