I bought a 40" samsung 1080p lcd tv and a panasonic blue ray home theather system and also some cables to hook them together.

What im wanting it do is get surround sound for when watching tv, right now it only comes out the tv. but when im watching a blue ray then the surround system works .

Any ideas on what todo?

You need to run audio cables from the output on the tv to the input on the stereo. Currently you are only sending data from the bluray player output to the tv input. What you want to have is audio output from the tv to the bluray player. Hope this helps.
