Computer slowing down ...

I'll test the connection speed to rule that out but I have cable internet and it's typically very fast - so I think the bottleneck is with the machine. Do those "speedupmyPC" products work? What else can I try first?

Run antivirus software. Then download a product called Mbam and run it.

Your problem is adware

Thanks! I do run McAfee antivirus. Is there a difference between adware and malware?

Yes but you can run them both.

I run the following programs to keep things in check:

Superantispyware
Mbam
SpyBot
ComboFix
CCleaner
Black light

These programs run monthly keep things in check and running smoothly and also keep my servers clean.

Thanks everybody. I've also noticed that Google Chrome is way faster than Inept Explorer. I use Chrome now.
