Computer Died?

Well my 4 year old alienware laptop was working fine yesterday and when i went t turn it on today the only thing that pops up is a flasing white bar in the top left corner.

I tried to reformat it but about half way through it just turned off and did the same thing about three more times befor i just gave up.

Any ideas?

i`m confused, if your only seeing a flashing white bar, how did you try to reformat?

anyway, when you reboot press and hold f2 key and that will bring you into the bios.

go through the menu`s and try to boot in safe mode and see if that works.

another tool you can use is download is hirens boot cd. this cd contains alot of programs that can help you solve problems with your computer. you will obviously have to do this from another computer and burn an image on to dvd or cd. than boot into the bios again and change the boot sequence to the dvd drive.

now be careful, hirens is warez and may have viruses.

hope this helps.
