Free? I'm not sure of free, but alot of ISP's have free downloadable software, and if you are a bank of america customer you van download CA anti virus for free. I had the CA, and I ended up going with Windows live one care, works good so far

I've been using AVG free edition for about a year now on my work computer and haven't had any problems yet. I'm not sure how much the full version costs but I don't think it's that much.

Yea, AVG Free (they try to hide it on their website and redirect you to the pay or "trial" versions but, you can find AVG 9.0 absolutely FREE - cnet has it to download)

Works really well!

I used to recommend and install AVG Free for my clients. I used their software for ~7 years.

As of Aug 2009, I now recommend Avast. The software is more effective at catching viruses and malware. It also uses less resources than AVG so it doesn't slow your computer down as much.

Bingo I also made the move from AVG to Avast.

I'm going to look at Avast because with the latest AVG I see that they disable Microsofts Windows Defender from running!
